Understanding How High Aluminum Content Raises Autism Risk
Does having a high exposure to aluminum have anything to do with autism spectrum disorder? A new study finds that this is so.
A recent research study carried out by researchers at Keele University, highlight a strong association between aluminum exposure and autism. Aluminum content was extracted from the brain tissue of 5 donor bodies with a prior history of autism diagnosis.
Researchers highlight that the aluminum content was extraordinarily or extremely higher than in a normal human body. Further, researchers explain the values to be of the highest order than has previously been observed.
For instance, the occipital lobe of a young 15-year-old autistic teen was seen to be 8.79 MG, a value that is 10 times higher than that of an average individual.
Further, each of the 5 bodies was analyzed for the presence of aluminum content in their brain. Researchers noted aluminum content to be higher than normal which the team believes will serve as a standout observation in future studies down the line.
It should be noted that the majority of extracted aluminum content was identified in the internal regions of non-neuronal cells which included astrocytes and microglia.
Aluminum content was further observed to be present across the lymphocytes in the meningitis region. Nevertheless, researchers observe the underlying evidence to be clearer as the inflammatory cells were heavily loaded with aluminum content that entered the brain via blood-brain barriers and similar membranes of the human body.
Aluminum content found in the underlying layers of brain tissues in autism cases is seen to be intracellular, having a strong association with non-neuronal cells. Researchers believe these results could provide an explanation about the presence of high aluminum levels in young autistic brains.
The team further states, there could be an underlying possibility of something that could be attributed to the genetic makeup of individuals who tend to retain or accumulate aluminum levels in that region of their brain. Dr. Mark says, “These types of instances are usually observed in cases with a familial history of schizophrenia.”
Nevertheless, the new evidence in question associates the entry of aluminum into the cells with being preloaded with sufficiently high contents of aluminum. Dr. Mark says, “One of the major external resources which is known to contain aluminum is vaccines. It is high time that we take note of the contents being pushed into vaccines by manufacturers.”
Aluminum is one of the commonly used vaccination agents and is known for its immunity stimulating factors. Further, aluminum is seen to be capable of inducing neuroimmune disorders in individuals.
